O&M and Capital Project Work

Xcel Energy contracted with BHI to provide Maintenance, Modification and Capital Project work for Prairie Island’s 2R29 fall refueling outage.  Working roughly 200,000 man hours, BHI’s O&M scope included temporary power and lighting, scaffolding, logistics, turbine building and containment coordination, containment, turbine and aux building crane operation and rigging, snubber program support and electrical relay replacement.  Capital project scope included replacement of containment fan coil units and piping, reactor coolant system RTDs, large pump motors, hydrogen seal oil skid, generator exciter and turbine supervisory control system and support of the main generator and main transformer replacement.  Although presented with a logistical challenge to set up, prepare and implement an organization under tight time constraints, BHI’s unique, results-driven partnership approach with Xcel proved successful and led to BHI acquiring a longer-term MMC contract with the utility.  Contact us to learn more.
