BHI Energy (BHI) announced today that Samuel “Sam” Yohannes has joined the organization effective March 7, as Director of Finance for DBE and T&D Engineering. In this position, he will be partnering closely with business unit leaders to drive key finance initiatives and support the strategic finance decisions. Sam will play a key role in managing financial performance, through budgeting, forecasting, and providing meaningful performance analysis and recommendations.
Sam brings to BHI a robust career in the Energy, Engineering and Renewable sectors, coming to BHI from Day & Zimmerman, where he worked for seven years as Director of Finance, Projects & Construction for Fossil, Welding and Nuclear. Prior to that, Sam worked for Alstom Grid for one and a half years as a Head Project/Financial Controller working with their new T&D business. He worked for three and a half years with AREVA Solar (joint venture with Duke Energy) in California and Australia as a Project Finance Manager building the financial processes and best practices for projects, and spent over two years with Gamesa Wind US as a Business Unit controller for Commercial, Construction, Logistics and O&M.
Sam also worked with Michael Baker Inc., an engineering and construction firm focused on civil infrastructure and transportation, as a Project Accountant for four and a half years. He began his career with Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure as a Lead Project Accountant working on an Anthrax cleanup project for two years
Sam holds a BA in Finance from Lincoln University, PA. He will report to Rachel DeBuck, BHI Energy’s Vice President of Finance for Power Delivery and is based out of the West Palm Beach, FL office.
