Up Tower Gearbox Repairs

In response to critical gearbox failure risk in units without an anti-rotation pin, BHI developed a mobile machining process allowing in-place, uptower gearbox repairs and saving the cost of removing the gearbox via crane and eliminating weight-related safety concerns during removal.  The process allows equipment to be taken up-tower and the gearbox repaired without removing the unit, thus enabling mitigation before failure. This also moves the work  into a proactive process that can be scheduled, and avoids further extensive repairs.  Our innovative solution minimized the cost and labor needed for the gearbox repairs, and avoided unplanned repairs, resulting in significant time and cost savings for the customer.
