Employee Spotlight: Jose Hernandez
Describe your main responsibilities and what a typical workday looks like for you.
I lead a team focused on the design of transmission lines and substations at both distribution and transmission voltage levels. I ensure all projects are designed as required while maintaining project schedules and milestones. I also provide technical direction for our clients and team to help solve problems.
Why did you join BHI?
I joined BHI because I wanted to be part of a team with a vision like mine – part of a company who puts the customer first and does not compromise on service, quality or safety.
What do you like most about working with BHI?
The team I work with is amazing. Everyone has each other’s best interest as a priority.
Tell us about a major accomplishment working as a part of the BHI team.
We were able to save our client over $1 million in construction and materials by providing an alternative design to what was initially offered by another engineering company. We finished the project on schedule and well below budget.
What is something that makes you proud to work for BHI?
We all work well together and enjoy helping others reach their goals.
How has the company changed from when you first started and now?
There is now a reinforced focus on transparency and ownership of responsibility, and our safety programs have gotten more robust as the business grows.
What guidance would you give a new team member when they start working for BHI?
I would say work hard, and be honest and transparent about your strengths and weaknesses. We will work to strengthen you in areas needed to support your professional growth and use your strengths as an asset to help us grow as a team.
