In preparation for decommissioning, Southern California Edison’s San Onofre Nuclear Station sought BHI’s radioactive effluent and radiological environmental monitoring programs (RETS/REMP) services because of our proven record of accomplishment and experience providing these services to operating and other decommissioning nuclear power plants for more than a decade. We provided RP staff, License Termination support, a MARSSIM-compliant characterization plan, and fuels management support. For this project, we provided a Senior Radiological Engineer/CHP and other technical support for permitting, environmental impact reports, and RETS/REMP/ODCM recommended modifications, all tasks which benefited from the expertise of the BHI team. The project was completed under budget, met the utility’s schedule and all regulatory commitments.
